Worth Starting Over

I was talking this week to someone about baseball, how that each game is a microcosm of the entire season.  A batter can have two strikes on him and it looks like he’s out.  He works though to even the count and then he can even still hit a home-run despite what looked like a sure failure.

Each day of your life is a microcosm of your whole life too, as is each month, each year, and even each decade.  Your life doesn’t need to be a failure just because your day has been, your month, your year, or even your decade.  While you are still alive you can still start over.  Life is a series of fresh starts.  There really is no reason for you to continue in a losing pattern just because you’ve lost in the past.  You can be a bad parent, but admit you are wrong and get a new beginning.  You might do this once a week or several times a year.  The same can happen for you in this church.  It better.  You are going to sin.  You will even make mistakes, but don’t lose out on a large or even larger portion of your life, just because you are not willing to humble yourself and start anew.  People here want you to make it.  They know what kind of struggle the Christian life is.  I know how hard it’s been for me.  But I’m thankful for the grace of God.  We can all start off a new day, a new week, and a new year, and make our life one that is more worth the living.
