Keeping Everything God Said

In Exodus 15:26, you can read, “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”  These types of verses you will find all over the Old Testament, and then in the New Testament too.  I draw your attention to “keep all his statutes.”  Nowhere does scripture say “keep some of his statutes” or “keep the important statutes” or “feel like keeping his statutes.”  God wants all of His commandments, judgments, statutes, instructions kept.  He wants them believed, obeyed, and taught.  If you recognize God for Who He is — God, you will keep everything He said.  Reducing what God said to what we think is important isn’t what God told us to do.  We don’t even expect that for ourselves.  We don’t frequent businesses or think that we are getting good customer service if we don’t get everything we ordered.  There are numbers of reasons why people feel justified or think they are justified in plainly not doing all that God said, but there isn’t a good reason.  We don’t expect it for ourselves, God doesn’t accept it, and we shouldn’t think that we are loving Him if we are thinking, believing, or acting that way.
